Wooden chopping boards have been around since the days when butchers used to carve their meat on tree trunks.  The issue with this is great grooves would be present and store up bacteria - and hence the shorter life span of the pre-victorian era.  What developed was a butchers block which was a piece of wood specifically create by gluing small pieces of wood together.  After repeated uses it could be plained off and you would have a fresh board again.

Today's blocks are made from end grain wood that is heavily compressed, glued and oiled.  This provides a great surface that although difficult and expensive to make, is very good for knifes and looks authentic in the kitchen.  From a hygene point of view, recent research suggests that wood is actually more hygenic than plastic, and there is some interesting research from Dean Cliver from the University of California.

Our delivery service for assembled items are hand delivered by a two man team who will come and unpack your product and check that you're satisfied before leaving.  Deliveries usually take 10-14 days and no more than 4 weeks.  For our "Ready to assemble" items these are delivered flat packed by courier, and usually arrive within a week of placing the order.
